cosby’s speech

What follows is a nice big juicy rant. I have to make a note on the recent speech Bill Cosby gave at an event, sponsored by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, held in honor of the 50th anniversary of Brown v. Topeka Board of Education. A quick hop over to Google News will get you up to speed if you don’t konw what I’m talking about.

While I feel that I’m not racist, there were a number of truths to his speech. Its one of those touchy subjects no one wants to talk about, but everyone is thinking. While it may not have been the best place to make a speech like that, I applaude him for doing it. People need a good slap in the face to open their eyes.

Is it unfair for me to agree with him, because of my upbringing? Maybe. My parents never divored. Automatically that puts me in the minority. At the same time, it has allowed me to really value what non-divored parents add to a family.

Thanks Dr. Huxtable! Hopefully you’ve opened some other people’s eyes.
