Back online
Well, clonch.homeip.net is back online after some scheduled downtime. I finished off the network drops in the ole’ office and moved the cable modem over to its new home. Everything looks much cleaner, and tidy. Maybe I’ll snap a picture to share with you all, cus I know you’re dieing to see the new setup.
Interesting read
Caught this thread on channel9 about IE and standards, or lack of them, snicker, snicker. What I found interesting is that a Microsoft PM for IE joined in the thread to post some insights. I still like Firefox, but there might be hope for IE.
Its a long thread, but do check it out.
Sorry for the fugly site
Well, I’m at it again. I was never real happy with the look of the site, so I’ve decided to do something about it. This means, for the time being, the site is going to look a little ugly. I’m in the process of doing some mock-ups of the site, but time is always a precious commodity, so it will probably take longer than I’d like.
I also need to decide whether I want to use Drupal’s xtemplate or phptemplate system. Originaly I was set on using the xtemplate system, but have since discovered the new phptemplate system (and the fact that it is now the default system). It looks interesting,
the call for digital rights
Jack informed me of this book, Free Culture by Lawrence Lessig, which he stated was a good read (which you can download the whole book here). So I started reading it, and must agree with him. Although, I’m not finished reading it yet, I wanted to make my post.
Over the past few years, I’ve increasing become more aware and concerned with intellectual property rights. Being a general tech-geek, it really strikes a nerve at how quickly our rights over digital versus meatspace “stuff” is being taken away. And to top it off, how unaware non-geeks are to this.
am i dreaming? a shadowrun crpg?!
Ran across a rumor that they might make another Shadowrun video game. Although it is a rumor, and almost a year old, and doesn’t list any sources/links, and probably isn’t true, you don’t know how long I’ve waited. The SNES game just didn’t cut it.
In case you don’t know of the glory that is Shadowrun, I take pity on your sole. >>
