Marching Band Sued

Given my stint in my high school’s marching band and my current interests with intellectual property laws, I found this article interesting. Basically a local high school’s marching band is being sued for copyright violations. When they bought the printed sheet music to a song they used in their halftime shows, they failed to purchase the license to use the song. Now, they are clearly in the wrong here, but this just shows you the state of IP laws in this country.

A quote from the article really sums it up: “Band Director Brian Stevens, who is in his seventeenth year at the helm of the Reynoldsburg marching band, said he has never dealt with anything like this.”

Long time no type

Well, it has been a little while since I last posted anything. All I have say is it has been a crazy beginning to 2005. First, gotta point you to pictures from the ice storm. These are pictures from my parent’s house. Unfortunately I still have to wait to get the pictures I took scanned into the computer. The bright side is that I got Renee a digital camera for Christmas, soo, no more scanning pictures!

I’m playing around with HTPCs now. Looks pretty sweet, except I’m using junk hardware, so it is a little lacking in the horsepower department. I’m going to post some more info on this later. I want to do up a guide, but I doubt I’ll be able to find the time. I might just post what notes I have. Who knows, it might actually help somebody.
