It was perfect

I had been meaning to post this the next day after the show, but I’m lazy. I know, it has less of an effect now, but hey…
Anyways, see if you can spot the glaring error on the ticket.
Firefox counter
I’ve also created a Drupal module implementation of Infocraft’s Firefox download odometer. You can download it here. It is pretty simple and basic, but I wanted to see how modules operate so this was a good exercise.
If you use it, let me know what you think. Eventually, I’ll submit it to Drupal..
Categories Module
I started playing around with creating modules for Drupal. The fruits of my activities can be seen to your right. You now can access the all of the posts that were made under a particular category. This functionality is similar to other blogging systems like WordPress, MoveableType, etc all.
There are still some things that need tweaking. Namely configurable options, and dealing with nested categories. Since I had to disable anonymous commenting, use the contact page to let me know what you think, and if you see any areas that could use improvements.
Gallery a little messed up
Well you know what happens when you hurry. Yeah, so I was working late one night and during some downtime (in between tests) I started migrating the picture gallery over. It looks like I’ve messed something up, or g2 is misbehaving; its hard to tell. Basically, I’m locked out, and therefore I can’t administer it right now. I’m thinking of dropping the database, wiping the files and starting the migration over.
In the meantime, I looked into the integration of Drupal and Gallery2 and I like what I see. I gotta figure how to set it up here, as this will most likely require a theme change. One of the cons to using Kubrick is its fixed-width design. I may play with the image sizes and then use some javascript popups for over-sized images to compensate because I rather like Kubrick.
Updates to the site
Upgraded Drupal to the latest version and also moved the site to its new home. This started as a very thought out and steadily executed move, but I got anxious. Soooo things may be a little br0ke for the time moment.
Its new home is a stunning P3 733MHz system with like 700MB of RAM. Thats an improvement from the K6-2 600MHz with 512MB of RAM it was running on.
We won
Pataskala had a good night at the polls. All the issues that needed attention got it. It looks like we will continue to have a police force and no split-sessions for the kids. Although I continue to feel the fire dept is over funded, I extremely happy the other two issues passed.
Now if we can just get an income tax, and move away from being funded solely on property tax!
Blame the spammers
Ok, I cave. I have disabled the anonymous commenting. You can blame it on the spammers, as there is just too much to keep up with. Don’t get me wrong, the spam filter is good; very few spam comments were getting through. The problem comes from the fact that I still had to manually delete the comments from Drupal.
This is the Achilles heel of the spam filter module. If there was a “check all” box, then there wouldn’t be much hassle in deleting the offending posts, but there isn’t. I will have to see if a request for features has been made.
Of course Drupal 4.6 is out, and the spam filter has been updated for that. Soo…
