More site updates
I moved everything back to a single computer and off of the previously plagued web server. I blame Abit and their flaky ACPI support; of course the mobo is 6+ years old, so what motherboard didn’t have ACPI problems back then. Anyways, on top of that, I am in the process of rebuilding the whole system. The result will be a shiney new system with a fresh TC and correctly linked and complied binaries. This is something Gentoo users SHOULD do when major upgrades happen (like to gcc or glibc), and something I have been slacking on.
And to top everything else, I am revamping the web software a bit.
I have locked up the picture gallery; don’t want no freaks trolling around on it. So that means if you want to access the important stuff, you will have to register. Just click on the register link in the upper right-hand corner and fill in the blanks. After I approve the account, you will recieve an email.
Also, if you haven’t noticed, I have settled on and tweaked the WordPress theme. After using WP for a while, I have come to identify the components that I use, and the ones I don’t. Given the tons of themes avaliable for it, I found one that I like (lowstream) which, for the most part, supports the plugins I use. I like its clean, minimialist look; it makes it very simple to navigate and is easy on the bandwidth. I mean we all should be trying to conserve bandwidth and save the Internet.
Lastly, I moved the wiki over to Wikka Wakka Wiki (from MediaWiki). I consider Wikka to be a more streamlined, lo-fi setup and doesn’t layer on the enterprise level of wiki crap that MediaWiki adds. Don’t get me wrong, MediaWiki is great for large wiki’s, but it is a bit much on the personal level.
