Finding Digital Zen
Well, thanks to my RSS feeds addiction, I have had a digital communication breakdown. But not to worry, as like the phoenix, I have risen from the ashes v2.0. It is funny to think that it took RSS feeds to trigger a review of my electronic consumption habits, but thankfully it did. I have picked up some uber-geek new apps, discovered web sites I should have been visiting eons ago, and learned some wicked new tricks.
As part of my breakdown, I became acutely aware (again) of my lack of a time and personal information management system. So, as Jack accurately labeled me and which I forget the term he used, I have been in search of the best management system for me. I have been looking at David Allen’s GTD. In particular I have my eye on the hipster PDA and the very sleek, lo-fi DIY templates, which I think will suite me well.
I always have the problem of failing to jot down a task or thought, rather letting it go unrecorded and lost forever. This has been compounded by the ease at which I become distracted by shiny things (maybe a slight case of ADD?). Previous attempts have included a Palm PDA and cell phone voice memos; neither of which worked and were abandoned days after they began.
So, time will tell if this ends up being the management system to rule them all…
