MC Mechanic
Check out Shane Willis’ homage to MC Escher which I found via Gizmondo. And through the beauty of blogging I can help give visibility to his work.

Digg Labs
Social Networking laboratories are cool. With an interest in HCI, I love the recent explosion in developing methods of expressing information. Swarm is my fav.
DARPA is cool
Man alive, my next job will be working on a DARPA project. They always have the coolest stuff. Check out their Robonaut project. I love the helmet; very fantasy based.
Not enough time…
I’ve caught the VoIP fever and I want to be my own telco.
Given this: Free Skype
and this: Asterisk
I should be able to make something happen. Basically, I would use the asterisk server act as my POTS-to-VoIP gateway. This is similar to the CallVantage and Vonage setup, with the asterisk server acting as my TA device. Then I can hook up with any provider which doesn’t use a locked TA (sorry CallVantage and Vonage).
I see a whole spectrum of possiblities. Hooks in my imaginary IPTV setup (probably MythTV). PSTN access to my schedule of shows to record.
Hmm, seems there isn’t any Skype-Asterisk integration yet, but there’s a bounty for it.
This will all tie into my 3 wired subnets: data, video, voice. QoS on the video and voice and a nice fat pipe, should be more than enough to meet my demand. Of course, it will all have to cram through a 4Mb uplink. Enter FTTCF, “Fiber to the Corn Field”.
Now you see why I have no time…
ABC streams complete TV shows
Ahh, the title says it all! This is really awesome. ABC is streaming Lost, Alias, Command in Chief, and Desperate House Wifes for FREE! Check it out here. The best part is they are the complete show, with great resolutions, and with limited commericals. Diggnation covers this in their latest episode as well.
Ohio Supercomputer Center
Attended an IEEE presentation and tour of the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) last week. While the tour didn’t involve any of the computing clusters, it was still pretty awesome. The presentation pretty much revolved around their Third Frontier Network (TFN) and Blue Collar Computing projects.
They also demoed some pretty cool human computer interaction technologies: a virtual drill (think remote dentistry) and a virtual reality room. Unfortunately I didn’t get any pics as I was too busy playing.

Found this simple and nice index file to be really cool and useful. Wish I would have found it a while ago.
